    There’s more:

[Image: A young Arab man holding up a photograph of a white person offensively dressed in stereotyped “Sheik” clothing with a pretend bomb duct taped to their chest, holding a plastic cup and smiling. The text says: We’re a culture, not a costume. This is not who I am and this is not okay.]

[Image: A young East Asian woman decent holding up a photograph of a white person dressed offensively and appropriatively in an over-the-top Geisha costume, with their hands pressed together in a prayer-like motion and an exaggerated pouty lip look on their face. The text says: We’re a culture, not a costume. This is not who I am and this is not okay.]

[Image: A young Latino man holding up a picture of a white person offensively and appropriatively dressed in a costume wearing a sombrero, a colorful poncho with an exaggerated long handlebar mustache and a stuffed costume donkey on the front, making it look as if they are riding the donkey while smiling. The text says:  We’re a culture, not a costume. This is not who I am and this is not okay.]

  3. Many states have turned Dr. King’s life into a fable, said Mr. Bond, who now teaches at American University and the University of Virginia. He said his students knew that “there used to be segregation until Martin Luther King came along, that he marched and protested, that he was killed, and that then everything was all right.

(Reporting for the New York Times)

    THEN EVERYTHING WAS ALRIGHT.

See also: why white Americans start with the assumption that we AREN’T racially-biased instead of the more historically-accurate assumption that WE ARE RACIALLY BIASED.

    Also of note:

“Over the past decade, students have performed worse on federal history tests administered by the Department of Education than on tests in any other subject. On the history test last year, only 12 percent of high school seniors showed proficiency.”

Doomed to repeat, but also, how can they possibly understand the meaning of current events without knowing the context out of which they come?

  4. "I'm mean"

    1. Me: You're cute, Señor Coconut.
    2. He (5): Señor Coconut? Why do you call me that?
    3. Me: Because you're cute.
    4. He (5): I'm not cute. I'm mean.
    5. Me: You are cute.
    6. He (5): (resigned) I'm mean in a cute way.

  5. "Girl Glasses"

    1. Girl: Guess what? I was talking to [name redacted] and [other name] whispered to me "He's wearing girl glasses", so I whispered to [third name] "He's wearing girl glasses" and --
    2. Mom: [interrupting] So you started spreading a rumor about him?
    3. Girl: No...
    4. Mom: Just saying things behind his back you thought would hurt his feelings?
    5. Girl: No...
    6. Mom: Then, what?
    7. Girl: She just whispered that, so I whispered it, and...
    8. Mom: If you were whispering it, you must have known it might hurt his feelings.
    9. Girl: I wasn't trying to hurt his feelings. I mean, there are no such things as "Girl glasses" anyway.
    10. Mom: Then why were you whispering?
    11. Girl: I don't know.
    12. Mom: If that happens again, you can just say, "Whatever, I'm not going to play that."
    13. Girl: Yeah.

  6. This happened in the car

    1. Child 1: Close the damn window.
    2. Parents: *choke* *lmfao*
    3. Child 2: No.
    4. Child 1: Close the DAMN window.
    5. Child 2: Stop SAYING that!
    6. Child 1: If you don't close the damn window, I'm going to move on to worse words.
    7. Parents: Like what?
    8. Child 1: Like F.R.I.C.N.
    9. Parents: *dead*

Presented without commentary from christwire.org ‘Conservative Values for an Unsaved World’

I’m sure you posted this because of the “kooky” captions, but surely you are aware that these are all shots of teachers convicted of pedophile-related offenses? Those Christians sure did get silly with the captions, but I think they have a right to be angry. Teachers who sexually abuse kids fucking suck.
Here is a similar chart, of all female teachers, with a description of their crimes
